History - Timeline

InReach was started in 1974 by a group of dedicated family members and professionals who wanted a community based option instead of institutionalization for their loved one. Beginning as Charlotte Rehabilitation Homes with $500 and lots of hope, we were not set up to succeed; but we did anyway. And we grew. We focused on what matters most-quality services for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Now, we are affectionately known as “the little non-profit that could’.

We specialized in group homes and became Mecklenburg Group Homes, Inc. Then as services became more flexible, so did we. We changed our name again to Residential Support Services, Inc to reflect our changing business; then to Residential & Support Services, Inc (RSS) to clarify for our audience. InReach became our name in 2010 from a 24-hour challenge grant to reflect our commitment to making hopes and dreams within reach for those we support.

Since 2002, InReach has been accredited by CQL, The Council on Quality and Leadership (visit www.c-q-l.org ) to reflect our commitment to quality services and improvement of personal quality of life for those we support. Our vision is in alignment with CQL and we believe that this accreditation sets us apart
